Where Can I Serve?
All members at WestRidge are encouraged to put their faith into practice. We try to follow the example of Jesus, serving and loving as He served and loved. We believe the Holy Spirit has gifted each member of the Body with unique talents, gifts, and abilities, which have been given to enable him or her to serve others. Listed below are just a few of the many ministries at WestRidge in which you can serve.
Greeting
Greeters fill an important role at WestRidge. They make sure members are greeted warmly and that visitors are made to feel welcome and at home.
Teaching
Bible Class teachers are vital to individual and church growth. Opportunities to lead a class at WestRidge include adult classes, men’s and women’s classes, children’s classes, Children’s Church, and VBS.
Food Preparation
At times of crisis families need comfort and assistance. One way WestRidge offers aid is by food preparation. This includes cooking a meal, food pick-up and delivery, and clean-up after meals are served.
Media and Technology
Using media as an aid to teach the Word is a privilege of WestRidge. The media team runs the powerpoint during each Sunday’s song service and sermon. They also record each Sunday’s sermons and run the sound equipment at each service.
Children’s Church
In order to give our children the best Bible teaching possible, WestRidge holds a children’s church service in conjunction with the main service, immediately after the Lord’s Supper. This special time gives kids more opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that may be better suited to their ages. Children’s Church teaches children God’s Word through a variety of ways, ranging from puppet shows, to games, to object lessons.
Children’s Ministry
This ministry includes not only children’s bible classes and Children’s Church, but also classroom assistants, bulletin board creators, VBS workers, and chaperones, just to name a few.
Lord’s Supper Preparation
These volunteers see that each Sunday’s Lord’s Supper emblems are prepared for use. They also see that the trays are cleaned and maintained.
Benevolence
WestRidge’s main focus in benevolence is with the local community by providing financial aid, food, clothing, and other needs.
Westridge Pantry
WestRidge maintains a pantry for families of the community in need. . The Pantry is maintained by volunteers from our congregation as well as those from the Methodist church and others from the community who open the pantry on a regular basis for the benefit of anyone in the community who needs assistance with food, personal hygiene items, paper goods, and cleaning supplies. All items for the pantry are donated by the Westridge congregation, the Methodist Church, Harp’s Grocery, Wal-Mart, and various community food drives.
